After two acclaimed albums in the alt-pop sphere, multi-instrumentalist and DIY artist Anna Arco returns after five years with a new musical chapter. Her third album, Songs from the Past, was released on September 1 on Spiltan Records.
This time, Arco leaves her synth-driven productions behind and returns to her roots with acoustic songs in a stripped-back indie-folk/singer-songwriter sound, still often inhabiting a melancholic Nordic Noir world. International music press has praised the four singles released throughout the spring, highlighting Arco’s poetic songwriting, powerful storytelling and distinctive voice:
”Sweden’s Anna Arco is one of those artists who, after just one listen, is hard to forget. Listening to her music is an immersive, connective experience that leaves you feeling you have drowned in every emotion you have ever experienced – in the best possible way … The album explores love, loss, grief and life, with Arco’s talent for crafting meaningful lyrical stories on full display … Songs from the Past is a beautiful album that is intimate, brooding, otherworldly, moving, challenging and utterly mesmerising.” – Women in Pop (AUS)
“On her third album, Anna Arco emerges as a compelling singer-songwriter who doesn’t look to any trendy directions, but simply performs her songs in a straightforward and often poetic manner.” – Lira Musikmagasin (SWE)“Songs From the Past is a fantastic album. There’s no question about it. Warm, sad, airy and deeply human. Music that rewards those who actually stop and listen. More people really ought to discover Anna Arco.” – Måns Lindman, Katarsis (SWE)
“Arco seamlessly blends inspiration from the singer-songwriters of the ’60s with indie folk, creating a sound entirely her own, marked by tremendous musicianship and a remarkable sensitivity … a breathtakingly beautiful listening experience.” – Tinsel Music Magazine (SWE)
“A must for anyone looking for honest, elegant songs full of character on today’s alternative music scene. You can’t help but be swept away by her voice; it is soft and warm, inviting you on a unique inner journey, while the instrumentation creates an enchanting soundscape.” – Zone Nights (AR)
